HOW YOU WILL BE SUPPORTED
conscientious team of volunteer organizers is committed to helping you have a
great experience preparing for and during the Immediate Impact Breast Cancer Walk weekend. Here's how
we will help you safely meet that challenge:
Hosting Training Walks: We offer all walkers the opportunity to join us on a progressive
training plan with weekend walks gradually increasing in mileage from May right
up until the event weekend.
Back to Back Weekend: We host a big “practice weekend” walking 20 miles on Saturday and 20
miles on Sunday approximately one month before the big event weekend!
Shoe Fit &
Gear Clinic: To help you get outfitted properly for training and the event, we will host a clinic at Sports
Basement - even veteran walkers can learn a new trick or two about taking good
care of your feet and body while training!
The iiWalk Atlas 2012: Each walk participant will
receive a daily route map with turn-by-turn directions and assigned break
Rest & Refuel Stations: Every 3 – 4 miles along the walk route, at predetermined
locations, there will be volunteers providing water, snacks, and basic first-aid.
Lunch Stop: At the midway point of each day’s mileage we will have a longer break
featuring a healthy box lunch, hydration and basic first aid.
Sweep Vehicles: We will have volunteers driving along the
walk route to assist walkers and ensure no one gets left behind.
Route Support: A number you can call if you need help along
THE EVENT FOUNDATIONS
The foundations of this event grew
out of the Warming Hut Hotties team and community. This is the Warming Hut
Hotties triumphant 10th year participating
in multi-day breast cancer fundraising walks. This group of ordinary women and
men has raised almost $3 million for the breast cancer cause.
We are a community of like-minded
people; we think of ourselves as possibilitarians.
event is a new avenue for us and an expansion of our love of walking, dedication
to our community, commitment to raising needed funds, and a testament to our collective
passion to make a difference in the lives of people living with breast cancer.
In short, we want to leave the world a better place than we found it. We do this by:
our self-imposed limits
long-lasting, deep friendships
possibility in challenges instead of roadblocks
Become a possibilitarian. No matter how
dark things seem to be or actually are, raise your sights and see possibilities
- always see them, for they're always there. Norman Vincent Peale
